Hola guys!

It looks like I'll be heading to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI towards the end of this month and I need the help of you astute travellers! Just wondering a few things about how long it takes to get to certain places by car!

  • From Halifax to Cape Breton in NS.
  • From Moncton, NB to PEI (via the Confederation bridge).
  • From Monton, NB to Gaspe, QC.

That's it for now! Thanks in advance guys!

Cheers,
Katie ;)

Hey! I've been up to the Maritimes at least once a year every year of my life. While I am usually visiting family near St. John NB and Amherst NS, I have been able to see a lot of the area. The only drive I could give you an accurate time for is your leg from Moncton to PEI. It's almost one hour's drive from Moncton to Cape Tormentine (where the Confederation Bridge starts in NB). The bridge takes 20 mins to cross and there's really nothing to see on it because there are barriers about 20 feet high on the sides of it (I think it's to prevent people from looking at the great scenery and thus driving their car off the bridge). When I went last, there was no toll driving to PEI, but a C$37 toll on the way back to NB.

Drives within PEI are longer than you'd expect given its such a small province, but they're still not very long. Be sure to see Cavendish, Borden-Carleton and Charlottetown while you're there. There's a great lobster supper place we go to in the small town of Stanley Bridge to the west of Cavendish. I forget the name, but trust me it's really good and I think the only restaurant in that town. Fisherman's Wharf restaurant in North Rustico (east of Cavendish) has the best rolls anywhere on the planet Earth - so there's another place to go! Hope this helps some.

An hour is perfect! I was hoping it would be short ;) I just want to make PEI a day trip. I'm going to try and convince my friend that lives in Moncton to join me there! Hee hee :)

Thanks for the heads up on the drive times and restos, James! It's much appreciated! :)

PEI can definitely be a day trip from Moncton. I'm originally from Amherst (which is 30 mins from Moncton) and I've done that day trip many times.

For your times in Nova Scotia check out this webstie:

http://novascotia.com/en/home/planatrip/distancecalculator.aspx

It will give you the distance and times from any two places in NS.

Have fun in the Maritimes
