Ok, I know, Khao San Road is somewhat sheltered from the real Bangkok, and it is very cliche to stay there, but I am only in Bangkok for 2 nights, and want to stay near this infamous spot.

I have researched previous threads about the area, but was unable to find a straight forward answer.

Can you guys throw out a few suggestions for decent places to stay?

I would prefer a single room with A/C, and private bathroom. And I don't really want to spend more than 900baht.

It doesn't have to be directly on KSR, but close enough for a short walk.

Anyone want to help me out?

Thanks!!!

Hi there

We stayed in a place called Sawadee Inn. It's about half way down KSR and down a little side street. I know that some people have slated it as being really small but we thought it was great!
Most rooms have air con, attached bathroom and tv. We paid 450B a night. They have also got a restaurant downstairs serving good food.

Koh San Road is fab - enjoy it

I stayed at 'My House' guesthouse, just round the corner from the Khao San Road, which was very nice.

There are advantages of being in the heart of backpackerville - I was in a cafe on Khao San and randomly bumped into two girls that I'd met earlier in Koh Phangan, having had no idea that they were going to be in Bangkok. It's a small world - the Thailand backpacker part of it anyway...

There's a few reasonable bookshops if you're looking to stock up on reading material for long plane/train/coach rides as well.

stay in D&D Inn. get there before lunchtime to get a room

its one of the better quality hotels around ko san, some of the rooms are pretty big too! try ask for one that doesnt look onto the street, those rooms are really noisy

its also got a pool on the roof

youll prob pay around 400-500 baht for a room unless its gone up since i was there 2 years ago

Sambuttri Village Inn is an excellent place on Soi Rambuttri (the street between Khao San Road). The name makes it sound like a small friendly guest house, but it's actually a multi-storey professionally run hotel.

A single room with fan costs 290 Baht and I think the air-con rooms are 390 Baht. All rooms are really clean and have really nice ensuite bathrooms. There's also a swimming pool on the roof.

I stayed in this place in Jan & Feb this year & I paid 700 baht for a double room with a/c.

It's often full, so it maybe an idea to book in advance.

Having a pool is a god send!

Oops, I got the name wrong. It's actually called Rambuttri Village Inn.

I also found that they were sometimes fully booked for certain types of rooms so booking ahead is definitely good advice.

There are many cheap hostels in Khaosan, I just went there last night, it is about 125 baht per night.
