hi there,
don't know if you're still interested in any information, but i'm planning my own RTW trip, leaving australia end of october 2006 heading through japan, asia, UK and europe, central, south and north america, then home (all within 12 months).

i've been searching for a great deal on airline tickets, and believe me if i could do an "unlimited ticket" that would be great but i'm pretty sure it doesn't exist.
the one i'm going with is the "one world explorer" - who do prices by either continent or mileage based... i'm doing it continent based - which allows me 4 flights in each continent, and 6 in the US.
the airlines that fly with them are qantas, british airways, american airlines, cathay pacific and a few others.. the other choice is with the star alliance lot of airlines, and they also do good deals.. luftansa is also an option who do round the world flights...

hope that was of some assistance!
happy travels
mel

Hey IrishEyes and others! :)

Maybe I just found "unlimited airline ticket" you talked about... It's called "THE GREAT ESCAPADE FARE" - Unlimited stopovers are permitted within the mileage allowance of 29,000 miles. More on this website: http://www.worldspantravel.co.uk/escapade.htm
Have fun!Greetings from Slovenia... U.

I have been all over but it's taken a lot longer than 12 months! Here is a link to my page with some pictures and info, maybe it can help you get some ideas of what to do on your mad dash around the world! :-) -snip-

Enjoy your travels!

hello

Just like Mel', my wife and me are going on the one world explorer ticket, which ended up being the cheapest one, especially if you want to travel in South America.

Hello,
I enjoy reading your posts of such a wonderful RTW trip. But it surely will cost you guys so much if you ever find such an air ticket. And also you will miss something on the ground while being high up in the air. I think a better way is to take different means of transportation as nowadays countries have been opening their gates to each other. Countries are linked not only by air but also by train, bus, boat, etc. So take advantage of this worldwide interaction period!

Have great trips round the world!

Thi

Hey

RIFF1989, IRISHEYES... will also be travelling starting Feb 2008, but concentrating more on Asia, maybe in a few months we can compare itineraries and see if we can all meet up.

Sorry to say I have the same information as you so far (currently in the middle of doing research), will post once I get information.

Cheers
