I've had a digi camera now for almost 3.5 years and I've taken well over 4000 pix, suffice to say I haven't printed them all out!

I must have printed 300/400 of them and I was just intesrested in how many people actually end up printing their pix? Or do they live quietly on your hard drive, only coming out on those 'remember this....' occasion.
My sister falls into this category; she's got a wicked little camera, and a good printer, but never prints anything out..

I'm intrigued..;)

Of the 14,492 shots I've taken in the last couple of years and not immediately deleted (of which maybe 3000 print-worthy), I've printed a grand total of five, and those purely to test.
What this testing told me is that I need to have a better workflow with decent color management if I ever hope to print them and get the results I want. So I'm currently in the process of setting that up. Once I've re-selected and edited those 3000 shots (I did most of this selecting already, but made the mistake of doing it in a way that doesn't let me reference the originals (doh!)) I intend to go back and forth to a selected photography store to get the color output just right (since they provide their printer's ICC profile, it _should_ be a one time test only, but I doubt that'll actually be the case), and then indeed print them all, providing the cost of that won't bankrupt me. :)

Of course, they don't live quietly on my harddisk, but are happily shared with the world on my website, so I haven't had as much a need to print them as I might've had otherwise.

Heh. Just a perfectionist amateur, really. :) And it's mostly this: I've spent so much money on the equipment to help me get high quality shots, and so much time on the photography, waiting for those perfect moments and always learning to get higher quality shots, that I owe it to myself to put the same effort into the last step of the process and have that same quality appear in the real world prints.

Totally agree with you there. You should see the fruits of your labour!
For me it's merely a method of recording my travels, and reminiscing in later years...

Right, I'm gonna check out your profile now to see these wonder pix....

I print out those that I think should be printed out, though I seem to take ages to sort them out in the first place, hehehe. But I store all the pics I've taken, in my computer. Can't seem to bear to delete any of them, even the blurred ones. That said, I've probably only taken less than 2000 pics...
