Hi Garry,

So, the choice is basically between driving Melbourne to Brisbane or Sydney to Brisbane in a motorhome with about 10 days to do this??

In that case I would recommend Sydney to Brisbane.... I'm assuming here that you haven't seen Sydney or Melbourne and actually would want to spend some time in the cities too? Sydney will easily take up 2/3 days of sightseeing, and that's not including the Blue Mountains which are just a few hours drive and shouldn't be missed if you have the time! Sydney to Brisbane is a pretty decent drive and although you could do it in a day if you wanted, that takes the whole fun out of seeing things along the way. It also means you'd do nothing but drive big roads, whereas otherwise you could consider taking some of the more off beat roads and visiting some of the smaller towns and cities along the way that most don't get a chance to visit. It's all coast line and it's a very nice drive, especially if you can enjoy some of the atmosphere along the way (Byron Bay etc.).

It's about 1500 km extra if you want to do it from Melbourne, so that's a full day of driving non stop at least if you want to include that....

Hi Garry,

Sydney to Brisbane is a lot more doable in 10 days, particularly if you want to see Sydney too.

You asked for local knowledge...I've lived in Sydney my whole life...I love this place. I actually compiled a list of my favourite -snip-. It's biased and subjective, but that's the nature of a list! (I'm an outdoors person if that's any help).

Anyway, have a great time in Sydney,

Cheers,

Ronnie
