You are complete wrong because those girls/woman you will not be found in Amsterdam.

Doesn't mean that they enjoy doing it just because it is legal and more accepted in Dutch society than anywhere else. I saw the faces of these women, they didn't look too happy. So the point James' made is very valid, IMO.

All I EVER see around here is one member critisizing another members Posts - no matter what the topic. Crackman asked about the red light district so if you can answer his question that's fine. He didn't ask what EVERYBODY'S opinion is about prostitution. Prostitution works on many different levels. Have you seen Mick Jagger's new girlfriend? Does anybody think this 62 year old little tiny short man would have a 30 something beautiful GF without his money and fame? So when some old gezzer actor marries a girl in her early 20's that's OK? That's not prostitution wrapped in another name? And the women who become Prostitues choose to. My cousin is a Eastern European woman who is now a Dentist living in a G7 country with her husband. She didn't choose to be a prostitute, she choose something else. All this Macho Bravado is silly and typical IMO. The hero of women comes to the rescue. Crackman, anything else you wanna know? I don't really know that much about the red light district in Amsterdam. The place to reallly go is Hamburg. Friends that have been there say it's the real deal, much better then Amsterdam.....Zoom

There's no macho bravado or some such in airing my opinion. I'm sorry that you feel this way.

People end up at certain places in their lives through lack of opportunities, bad decisions, and desperation. I'm glad your relative is a dentist, but do you seriously believe that everyone has that opportunity?

Well, you can find a "bad" for just about everything in the world.

And if you are THAT against prostitution, drugs, cesspits, etc etc than you should do something about it, join a club, donate to anti-drug or anti-prostitution foundations (yes they are out there)

I'm just saying that Amsterdam and the Red Light District will ALWAYS be there so might as well enjoy the ALL of the city and it's beauty (it is AWESOME!)

can't understand you are from nottingham and your asking where the red light district is ?. just look on a couple of street corners. is it males or anyone your looking for??? what a horrid post. can't people get a relationship now a days.

Mally, with all do respect why is this a horrid post ? What does a relationship have to do with prostitutes ? I'm in a relationship and my Girl Friend and I have walked down the main street in Amsterdam's Red Light District. She didn't flip out, just found it a bit interesting (a bit more then I did). It's a part of life and always has been. I did photography for a while for a well known Rock band. After every show you know how many young girls (Over 18) would work their way backstage and throw themselves at the band members? You should hear all the stuff I heard, offers of ANY TYPE of sex, threesomes, etc. What do you call that? These girls would NEVER talk that way to a fellow male student at school....but these were big, famous ROCK STARS (so that makes it all different) It's not just men and prostitutes that behave in a less then dignified way just so you know how things work.
This is a travel site. Amterdam is a world famous city and it's red light district is world known. It's a legit question. As we all know Amsterdam is probably the most liberal city in the world so if any body asks about Drugs or Sex it's not very surprising. Anymore then questions about gondola's in Venice are. It so weird to read posts on a site run by Europeans with tons of European Members yet I always feel like I'm reading some newspaper from deep down in the super conservative US Religious South (AKA "The Bible Belt"). Where's all the open minded European liberal thinking at (cause I really miss it).....Zoom

Quoting james

The Red Light District is a great place to go to see where the dreams of desperate women from Eastern Europe end in a cesspit of prostitution, drug abuse and general depravity.

It's depressing. Go elsewhere.

mmm, thats one way of looking at it...

on the other hand, you get to look at any amount of scantily clad poontang and purchase as freely as getting a lager.

every cloud eh

Hot debate!
RLD at Amsterdam is really interesting. It depends, how you look at it.
I loved it. I spent 3 consequetive nights in 3 diff. such places.
Seeing such beautiful female body is a lifetime experience.
After all our life is for once only.
Talking about all these abuse, slavery are just nonsense.
Moulin Rougue or Lido has become instititution, with all these nude shows, for their high price and marketing.
RLD women are also performers.
Is there any basic difference?
And what about the male strippers? why we are not sympathetic to them with same logic?
crackman, I say go ahead and enjoy.
