h_ping50 has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

I'm setting off for krabi on 28 apr 04.. any last minute advice? basically:

- where to visit in krabi
- how to get to koh phiphi from krabi
- is phuket worth a visit?

would appreciate it if anyone can recommend cheap and nice accomodation for the 3 places.. thanks

I don't want to offend you or anything but I was in Thailand and malaysia last year on Koh panang, koh tao and the Perinthian Islands and most people I spoke to said Krabi and phi phi are dumps... if you fancy going to Koh Tao stay in the simple life it's really cool! other than that to answer you Q booking acommodation is pretty unnecessary.

Hope thats helpful...

Krabi is not the most idyllic beach in Thailand but it is fun. There are a lot of travellers passing through making it a great place to meet other people people over a bottle of beer and a great seafood dinner. If you enjoy rock climbing, Krabi/Raleigh Beach is a good place for it. In Krabi Town, there is a nice little night market along the water where you can eat anything on a stick; you can buy a cheap bottle of Siam Sato (sweet rice whiskey) for 25 Baht at the local 7-11, kick back on a bench near the river and watch life go by. Although snorkelling is not that great, you can take a day tour to some surrounding islands which is a really fun way to spend the day. A great day trip from Krabi is Wat Tham Seua, an amazing Buddhist forest temple that is quite a climb to the top, something like 1,200 steps, that gives great views around the surrounding countryside. So, yes, Krabi's beaches may not be the most beautiful in Thailand but there not holes and they are really fun.
If you're in the area and need to break up your journey, Krabi is great.

If you dive, drop by Koh Tao or Phi Phi. I am familiar with both islands - need advice??

Ok, personal opinion. Phi phi is crap but krabi is cool, if you hang out at Railay beach, with the rock climbers. Phi phi is overrated unless you're into watersports cos it's like a tourist town and all the local flavour of the place can be contained inside a coconut. Well its my personal experience and could be different for you, definitely.

Going from krabi to phi phi is only a couple of hours ride on their ferry (can't remember exactly how long). You can probably just worry about accomodation when you get there (i dunno if end apr is considered peak period), find some of those rustic stick-in-the-mud bungalows / attap huts by railay beach, which are cheap, has no hot water, occasional cockroaches, but otherwise makes you feel right at home.

you mean krapi - I really didn't like it, the only nice thing I did there was to kayak on the mongroose forest, that was cool. If you want to go to a pretty , small island on the andaman coast go to koh muk, and go to the emerald cave, or else on the other side go to kho pan ghan, great great place, and it has everything for everyone: from peace and bliss to party hard.

have a safe trip:)

I think Phuket has best roads with cool mountains to ride a motobike you can rent there.

Good Luck
