I'm planning a RTW trip for this coming September. I would like to start off in Tanzania as I have an aunt there and after seeing some of Africa head into India for 3 - 4 mths. The main obstacle I keep running into is how to get from Africa into India via air. It doesn't seem possible - everything seems to route via London, Singapore or Hong Kong which would mean backtracking on my RTW ticket (not allowed!) or having to purchase a separate one.
Has anyone managed to do this via air or is there any other way you would recommend getting there? Would love to hear any 'creative' ideas you have!
Thanks in advance,
What about these airlines?
and Oman Air (currently no website)
Though I personally would fly to Addis Ababa or Cairo and then make my way overland to India through the Middle East.
Another option to check when you are in TZ are sailboats going and coming to Oman and Yemen, as they have been doing for 1000 years or more.
hey jenny....maia is right...about the airlines she has mentioned...most of them are middle east or asian airlines ..so they dnt go thru' london but their hub...i.e emirates passes thru' dubai from africa into india..
Another one would be Airindia..the national carrier of india...has flights from nairobi & dareslam to india...u could chk that out too...www.airindia.com
