Join us in Nicaragua between 18th and 25th September for the Festival of San Geronimo and a little bit of volunteer work if you're up to it. For information, directions, and more just message me. Only the group coming from the US is taking the one week volunteer vacation with tours, so don't worry, anyway all profits go to charity. Message.

Hullo everyone!
Going to be in Costa Rica at the Crla to study Spanish for four weeks, starting on Monday september 25th. Luego travelling through Costa Rica and Panama where I will catch the plane to Lima, probably on november 1st. Anyone else travelling through Costa Rica/Panama between 20th of October and 1st of November?

I'm heading to guatemala pretty soon-October 16th to be exact! I'll be studying in Quetzaltenango for about a month-then up to Mexico for christmas and then back to Guatemala in the new year and the travelling will begin. I plan on travelling down through central america and south america for about a year. I have no set schedule but plan on volunteering along the way.
I'm nervous and overwhelmed but eager to live my dream. I don't want to miss a thing. Thank god for this forum.
Andrea

Sent you some 'insider' (from HERE in CA to THERE where you are)information re: Quetzaltenango however we all, natives and residents, call the city 'Xela' after the Mayan name of 'Xelaju', Panajachel on Lake Atitlan is called 'Pana' or affectionately 'Gringotenango'. Guatemala City is 'Guat City' or just 'Guate' if catching a bus. Slang Spanish widely spoken on the streets. Anyone wishing the info. just message me and I'll pass it on.

The Volunteers are gathering in Masaya, Nicaragua 18-25 September for a volunteer work-fun vacation and all are welcome to join with us a day, two or more during the Festival of San Jeronimo. Masaya is 45 minutes by bus from Managua and less than 20 minutes to Granada, if you are enroute to Costa Rica, or coming from abroad.

Humanitarian Aid and Volunteer Vacations with
CINDURMA

Here is some of what you will experience on
a volunteer vacation journey with us:
And it is not
just "us" we are talking about..we are able to refer
you to other worthy projects....
"There are several areas in
Humanitarian Aid one can work in, Orphanages, Clinics
and Communities. Ongoing projects are plenty in
Nicaragua and provide opportunity for service. Simply
providing a free meal in a poor area or painting one
of the schools in an area. At every level there are
opportunities already established. It is not necessary
to start or build new schools or churches in
Nicaragua. There are hundreds already built that could
use upkeep or support. In an afternoon, just over six
hundred fifty people in one small village near Masaya
were fed by financial contributions from
-------------. This same funding
provided meals for another two days with people
arriving from nearby villages....."

I am planning a trip through Central America in January o7 for three months. I need to decide if I begin in Mexico City or Cancun than after spending some days at Playa del Carmen and tulum I will be heading south to Chetumal, Belize, Guatemala,...
Does anybody have experience with the boarders like Guatemala to Honduras to Nicaragua?
Who would recommend the trip from Mexico City to Cancun?
