I need some advice to whether I should go to Amsterdam or Copenhagen for a short holiday this summer. I know Copenhagen is a great city, and since I live in Gothenburg, Sweden, it's easy to go there and not that expensive. However, it would be fun to try something new and I'm really curious of Amsterdam. So basically I need to know, how do I go to Amsterdam the easiest and preferrably cheapest way? How expensive is it to stay for 3-4 nights with food and drinks (and shopping!). And for you who've done both. Is it worth the extra money?
My vacation won't be until the end of july.
If you find Copenhagen not that expensive you should find Amsterdam cheap! Isn't there a ferry going from Gothenburg to Amsterdam (IJmuiden actually)?
I was actually referring to the travel as not so expensive since there are busses that only take 4 hours and costs about 25€. I'm not sure how to go to Amsterdam from Gothenburg or how much it costs. That's why I posted. I havn't been to Copenhagen for many years so if the city is cheaper or not I cannot say. Though I would have guessed that it would be more expensive in Amsterdam because of the euro, but then again, I wouldn't know and that's why I ask.
Amsterdam has it all a tourist wants but also someone who likes to party will like Amsterdam. The city has so many things to do. All info can be found on : www.visitamsterdam.nl . I've never been to Copenhagen so I can not inform you.
Try www.flyme.se for flights Gothenburg-Amsterdam. I saw several flights in July to Amsterdam for around 40 EUR and from A. to G. for 60-80 EUR, also in July.
BTW, I went to A'dam over Easter, I spent around 300 EUR there just on food, hostel and things to see and do. Being more used to travel in the Middle East where life and travel is cheap, it was quite a shock to me!
