Okay so I'm about to book a 3- week trip to Nice, France (Jun 26 - July 15) to do an EF Language School ( I really want to improve my French! ). Anyways I'm really excited about it, but I'm a little uncertain about going by myself. I've never really traveled without friends before, and I imagine i will meet people in the course, etc. but still, im a bit nervous about getting lonesome. This is costing a lot of money, but I've been working two jobs on the side of my last year of highschool, saving up. None of my friends have the sort of money to spend as they are mostly off to University next year as well, but have not been making money all year.
Any words of wisdom?
Words of wisdom... not really.
Just have fun, be careful, budget well, and go to St Paul De Vence for a day trip.
Oh, and if you want to improve your French try to meet a few (female) locals .
You have been to many places already, you should be good. Like James said meet some girls. That and make sure your gun is showing at all times so nobody will mess with you. haha. Nah, but I'll be in Nice too at about that time. Have a good trip!
If you get tired of all that French you will be learning, you can be certain to find some crazy English/Irish people at one of my favourite Irish pubs in the world Ma Nolan's. The food there's not that bad either.
I wouldn't worry about it, I find it's impossible not to meet people when you travel, it's kind of weird how I'll spend 6 months going up to university/work and back on a train and never talk to a stranger once, but when you're traveling it seems like you meet people all the time. In any case I rather like traveling by myself, I find if you're doing it with friends you always have some sort of disagreement about plans that arises, or ending up having to do something (even if it's relatively minor) when you'd rather do something else. Even if you don't have an explicit disagreement I think the ultimate freedom is doing it by yourself. Good luck.
