Vancouver? I never imagined it. But then I get quite angsty on that topic. There's so many sushi places!! We've got variety..but less choice of it!! There's so much more sushi than other types of food. Crazy.

Anyway, I'd like to contribute Valemount. Ok, maybe just point it out.

Valemount is a small town in BC, Canada, that constitutes of - a highway, a pub, some houses, a grocery store, a hotel, a restaurant - the like. Very small. The restaurant across from the pub serves the best spaghetti I've ever tasted in my life. I know, I know, it's spaghetti, boring food, nothing exotic. But it's delicious!! The sauce tastes like actual tomato sauce - not canned stuff. It tasted like homemade - I used to eat tomatoes like apples when I was little. I know the taste - and this tasted like it. It was unbelievably..real. Very outstanding, with a LOT of taste - homegrown vegetables kind of taste.

So: if you're ever going through BC, and stumble on to Valemount...(go to the restaurant!)

Every city I've visited seems to have its own specialty. Montreal has amazing smoked meat sandwiches. In Savannah, Georgia, down by the river, there are restaurants that serve the world's best pecan pie. Helsinki has great beer (although I can't say much for the food). The best jiaozi and noodles in China are in Taiyuan, Shanxi. Qingdao is great for beer and seafood. Korean barbeque in Seoul. Ice cream (gelato?) in Rome. And in a small seaside town in Costa Rica I had the most amazing fresh fish- simple, but perfect.
