kat_crane has indicated that this thread is about China

Just wanted to get some suggestions for iteneraries in China. I'll be traveling from Beijing to Hanoi in late Aug. Any suggestions for where to stop along the way? I'm looking at about 2-3 weeks. I'm interested in walking a section of the wall and anything else that will give me a taste of Chinese culture. Also, would like to keep the budget super low. Thanks!

You can go to the Tian'an men Square which is the political centre of China, and Wang fu jing shopping street (close to Tian'an men square, you can walk there), where you will enjoy typical chinese food with a nice price and buy traditional chinese staffs, but one thing to be mentioned is that you'd better to practice how to bargin when shopping (not in the shopping malls, only on the sides of street you can bargen). And other places, such as The summer place, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Lama Temple etc.. while, depends on your time and physical strength ^_^

2 to 3 weeks is too short. to taste Chinese Culture.

anyway...

I suggest you will only pick up 2 cities (areas) for tourist.

stay in Beijing for around 1 week. you can do treking around the Great Wall area. and you also to stay in the City to taste the old Beijing culture, such as the Chinese opera, Hutongs.

if you have been to Beijing before, go to X'an this time. it will be a fun trip to understand some Chinese history.

and then go to south, either Yunnam or GuangXi. it depens on which city you are going to catch the train to Hanoi.

good luck!!!
