i think australians are like americans - it is a minority who ever actually leave their so it tends to be the quirkier ones who end up being the little cultural ambassadors all over the world.

I don't think it's a huge minority who leave Australia to travel... I've found that everywhere i've travelled to so far, there's damn Aussies everywhere! I can't get away from them. Especially Japan's slopes in winter. There's about one Aussie for every Japanese in some places.

And no not everyone likes the Kiwis i know alot of people that find their accents very annoying

Are these people Aussies? Because many people from other countries can't tell the difference between the two accents.

Obviously you dont watch the Simpsons or Family guy because they always bag out Canada. The US and Canada have a big rivalry going on and alot of Americans hate canadians and vise versa

Just wondering, have you ever been to canada? Typical American, use television/cartoon to represent their knowledge of a country. Bet you didnt know that the top writer for the simpsons is from Montreal! Montreal is in Canada if you werent sure.

They are really warm people though and most very helpful!

Aussies just make me laugh!!

yes he may well be from Canada but it still shows the general American attitude towards Canada

to be honest i dont watch a lot of american tv and i know about the whole america/canada thing but aside from that i think canadians are really well liked people throughout the world - i bet it u like it when u meet someone travelling an they ask if u r canadians rather than american...... this was spose to be about australians and somehow i have turned it into a "i love canuks" rant...... maybe i can get it on a t_shirt

"hah! as a kiwi i can say that ive heard a lot of shite about aussies. including that they are racist, sexist and stupid. but thats probably bitterness after having lost some sort of rugby, netball or cricket game! the aussies that ive met have all been super nice even if the accent is...different. what do the aussies say about us kiwis"

our accent! ours is choice bro! hahaha nah I know where you are getting at there. The kiwi's are fine alot of my close friends are kiwi's until the footy starts that is.

But the funniest ever was a kiwi guy that was staying in the hostel with us.. was harassed by sheep jokes the entire time and when it was his birthday everyone in the hostel bought a blow up sheep and put it in his room. Poor guy woke up to 100 blow up sheeps!

Aussies are great, I spent a year there and of course I met some horrible people (and they seem to stick out), but for the most part, they're good people.

However, at the moment I am working customer support and I only deal with Aussies. I can tell you that there are some incredibly thick and dumb people living there, and they are starting to get on my nerve. Of course it's not the lot of you, but those ones that keep asking the dumb questions, or that simply don't understand simple instructions, really need to brighten up. I'm sure it's the same for any country, but this job shows me the bad side of aussies

I completely agree that Aussies that travel definitely aren`t in the minority - am an Aussie myself and i would say that Australians are people that generally travel a lot! We are everywhere! :)

Yep, you're definitely right.

Let me guess... you must be working in some technical support job. I know this from experience. I did this type of job for 4 years in Australia before I needed a long vacation

Me: type in www.hotmail.com

aussie (from anywhere except New South Wales or South Australia on the line): yep done that, but it still says page cannot be displayed!

Me: Read back to me letter for letter what you typed, please.

aussie on phone: w w w d o t h o t m a i l d o t c o m

Me: Theres's your problem... you!

On and on it goes

j/k it can be aussies from anywhere, including NSW and SA too! but most cases I encountered were from other states.

Let me add that I've never met an unfriendly person from across the tasman either. All you kiwis are super friendly and very gentle and caring people, or at least the one's i've come across. Except for the time i was in a bar when New Zealand were playing South Africa in the Rugby and I decided to support South Africa to be a nuisance
