Quoting Ava_Aus

Ok I really didn't intend this on being a Aussie vs Kiwi thing but I really do have to stand up for my country. As said earlier we aren't selfish people we have had all those titles for years..so we should let it slide for a year or so to let the other countries no what success feels like hahaha

Oh and I truly don't have anything agains kiwi's but could you be a bit more orginal with their flag..I mean you have copied ours but just coloured in the stars red!

Ha ha ha, if you check your facts:
Australian flag 1953
http://www.ausflag.com.au/ausflag/bhist.html
New Zealand Flag 1902
http://www.mch.govt.nz/nzflag/history.html

So who is copying who????????

And this from a nation that didn't have it's own national anthem until about 15years ago. NZ's anthem may be crap, but at least we had one before the nation turned 200 years old

i would just like to point out that australia was formed in 1901, it has not been a country for 200 years, there was settlement but that didnt make it a country. so we didnt go 200 years without an anthem, when correcting other people`s statements it is always best to also check your own

Now, now, be nice...

I think we need to settle this once and for all. Okay, we're getting 5 Australians to the left hand side of the field and 5 New Zealanders on the right hand side. Now, everybody gets an oversized cotton bud and off you go. Last one standing gets the 'Superior Country' Award issued by the Queen of England herself. How about that?

On a more serious note, please remember to add an emoticon if you're post is meant satirical or a bit more light hearted. A lot of stereotype threads have ended up in personal attacks because of that. Thanks.

{Phil now returns this thread to its scheduled topic and leans back to enjoy the show}

New Zealand? How good can it be when half of you buggers leave the joint and come over here?

And Pardus, who the hell voted for a drunk Irishman to be a moderator ?

And Pardus, who the hell voted for a drunk Irishman to be a moderator ?

He had the over-sized cotton bud... What can I say...

Now there is a fair reason why there are so many kiwi's living in Aus.
If you are going to be on the dole, you might as well be in the sun and someone needs to add a touch of culture to the place .

Lou.c. - opps sorry about that, but i can admit when i'm in the wrong , but hey, most aussies thought waltzing matilda was the national anthem for long enough ;), mind you i think it sounds better than the one aus has now anyway.

And i'm with James, Pardus - suggestions of cotton buds, sounds like you had too much of the black stuff!!

Drunken Irishman?? Me? Not yet, no... (Probably drunk before Irish..)

I still think we should collect money for the 'TP Thunderdome'!

As for how I became Moderator, I still don't fully know. I remember meeting with Sam and Pete in the pub and getting some pints and from there my memory goes a bit hazy. I remember waking up in a broom closet with a dust brush sticking uncomfortably into my back...

As for the topic of the conversation - I only met a few Aussies and Kiwis, so I can't really add much to the conversation. But everybody I met from both countries were equally mad!

{goes off with his collection box trying to get funds for the arena with a sign on his chest 'Will stop singing for money!'}

waltzing matilda should be our anthem.... it`s suits the history and the culture of the nation perfectly - coz it`s about stealing

Bet you didnt know that the top writer for the simpsons is from Montreal! Montreal is in Canada if you werent sure.

Whoosh, I'm glad I didn't end up on the end of that towel snap

Did you know that George Dubbleya hired a Canadian to write his speeches? His name is David Fromm and his mother was a broadcast journalist on Canadian tv. Doesn't that make you wonder if Georgé's 'bushisms'can really be attributed to him?

Montreal is in Canada presently, but if the separatists have their way, it might end up in another country some day
