arashi1987 has indicated that this thread is about Spain

Hi

I want to know if anyone here has travelled around all of Spain before and could help me plan my future trip...

I want to experience the whole country, all the cities, the towns, the villages. I am thinking about going by train and bus.

I have just begun planning and will probably arrive first in Madrid and then explore the country from there.

How many days do you think I will need to travel the whole country?
And...how much money do you think I will need?

I am planning to go alone.

Thanks.

Your question is impossible to answer. Spain is one of the biggest countries in Europe, with 42 million habitants, 3.000 km of coastline, not countin Balearic and Canary Islands, with 52 provinces, and most of their capitals have someting interesting to see. Apart from that Spain is the 2nd largest country in number of UNESCO World Heritate places, 39 and if you like trekking, there are 6 cordilleras around Spain, being the Pyrinees the highest one. Travelling by bus is the cheapest and most convinient way, but the train system has improved too a lot in the last years. Now there is plenty of low cost airlines that sometimes are cheaper than bus. Check www.vueling.com

Vagamundos echoes everything I was going to say.

We have lived in Spain for 4 years - travel extensively and have still not even got outside Andalucia! This is the most amazing/fascinating country and cannot all be seen on one trip - a lifetime isn´t enough.

Another thing is that you must decide what of spain are you exactly looking for... what you find in the north and south is very different...
in Spain there are very different places: if you want to visit the cities you better travel with plane with vueling, if you rather want to see the life in the countryside, you can better go by bus or train...

As mentioned before Spain has different landscapes (which can make you the impression you are in different countries), more or less could be classified in:

North Spain: Santiago, Santander, Bilbao, San Sebastian, stopping here and there in small villages, towns............ 8 days

Mediterranean east coast: Anywhere along the Costa Brava (Roses, Cadaqués,...), Barcelona, Sitges, Peñiscola, Valencia,.....Alicante (do it in summer): 15 days

South Spain: Seville, Granada, Córdoba, Ronda, and the Mediterranean west coast (also recommended in Summer): Jerez+Cádiz+Conil+Vejer+Zahara+Tarifa+Gibraltar+Marbella+Malaga...the best beaches in Spain to my opinion.....15 days

Center of Spain: Madrid and the classic 1 day short trips: Segovia, Toledo, Ávila, Salamanca, Alcalá, El Escorial....8 days

Islands: Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza)....8 days
Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote...)...10 days

Natural Parks: Pyrinees, Sierra Nevada, Picos de Europa, Doñana...10 days

Others: Once here it's easy to visit Portugal and Morocco...you won't regret it.

TOTAL: 3 months if you really want to see EVERYTHING

Unless you have plenty of time, money and interest you can possibly visit the basics in about 20 days. Have fun.

Thank you, this is very useful information.

And indeed, I do wish to see the villages and towns. And as for time, perhaps travelling is a good way of learning rather than studying all the time, right? Thanks again. =)
