It's not an equal "taking the piss", though. Canada is a much smaller country, polulation-wise. So we often get the impression that we know way more about the U.S. that they know about us. A recent Today show episode (it's a popular show on a big network) had a story about terrorist threats to our Prime Minister, and they showed a photo of our last Prime Minister. No one batted an eye. Same thing immediately after 911, when President Bush thanked about a half-dozen countries for their help - but left out Canada, who had just taken in all the International Atlantic flights and sent in help from all our big cities. (Bush later said it's because we're like family.)

I guess it's kind of a big-brother/little-brother relationship - where the latter always jumps around looking for attention and understanding while the former is too busy with his own life to notice. In the end, though, I'd say we get along more that we don't.

OK, so it's nothing like the relationship NZ has with Aus.
Both take an equal oppertunity to take the micheal out of one another.
I get the notion that Canadians do resent the US to a certian degree. Maybe it is the big/little - yet land mass wise they are similar.
NZ and the UK are about the same land mass, and the brits knowledge of the political or geological things of NZ is pratically non existant, yet kiwi's don't mind.

Better to live in a forrested underpopulated country than .....

The thought "Why would I trust a Scot?" comes to mind...
Did Scotland finally invade Canada??? We never get any news about Canada. Will all the Canuckistanis be required to wear kilts from now on?

Good grief I hope not! Most Canuckistany legs are waaay too hairy. It's insulation against the cold you know. They'd look like bears wearing skirts!

I like hockey too much to piss in the wind on this one, so I'll let Homer Simpson say it:

In reference to England. . .
Homer: I know we don't call as often as we should and we aren't as well-behaved as our goody two-shoes brother Canada, who by the way doesn't have a girlfriend. I'm just saying.

All jokes aside, Canada is okay by me. I do tend to blame them for almost everything though. Okay, I guess I had one more joke in me; albeit borrowed from another cartoon.

Great thread!!

I have to admit i didn't read all of it, but i'll post my thoughts on America. Take it with a grain of salt

Brittany Spears, P. Diddy, N'sync, Backstreet boys, Billy Ray Cyrus etc. etc. cheap no talent musicians!

Baseball, Budweiser, Reality TV shows, Krispy Kreme Donuts, Americans on all inclusive vacations. I swear the buffets sound like feeding grounds for water buffalo. George Bush. Owning the Stanley Cup for the last 14 years.

Like: Culture, History, Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop. American News Channels. Weather. And that you've got our back should we ever be invaded by Portugal (right?)
