If you ask me there ia no need for them. Am sure some scientifics nudes are going to jump on me but really, be honest if it´s crawling or flying I kill it. May that´s my new moto in life

Pssssst... I think the little bugger is a fluke... But, if you want to call him a flake, that will have to be between him and you...

They didn't tell you about this little critter?
Candiru

And here I thought you liked biology, botany, zoology and parasitology...

I remember seeing a documentary on holiday illnesses a while ago, I think it was on channel 4 or 5. Those Bot flies were one of the things featured and it showed a woman who had one, they did cut off the air supply and waited for it to die and then extracted it from under her skin! it was soooo disgusting

URRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH it was the most horrible programme I have ever seen! It also featured elephantitis and other things that live in rivers in South America which if you take a pee in the water will swim up your urethra and cause all sorts of damage.

It terrified me so much! I am paranoid about insects anyway as I am severely allergic to all insect bites (I even get bitten by ants in the garden! ) so I am definitely for the eradication of all parasites and insects!

I've decided i'd be a really rubbish buddhist. Only way i can get over my fear of bugs is by violently squishing them. Don't think i'm gonna have a very pleasant afterlife!

whoops typo, but yeah I think I prefer flake hehehe

As for the candiru, well If I posted all the creatures that are just waiting to crawl inside me I'd be in my closet with a padlock screaming "KEEP ME WITH THE ENGLISH GARDEN SNAILS!!!"

Loubylou, you didn't click on the link for the candiru, did you? That's the little guy you mention in you post.

Mim - did they mention any of the little critters that will probably be lurking in your living quarters??? I don't suggest hiding in the closet.... (BOO!)

I'm all for the eradication of ticks. I was going to say leaches also, but they do have a useful purpose now and again.

I'm sure they mentioned this one too - malaria is a parasitic disease rather than one of a bacteriological or viral origin.
