I bought a 1-way flight to Manila Phillipines, then my parents drove me 3hrs today to Chicago to the airport, i get to ticket counter and they tell me i cant fly without a return flight.

I bought my flight from Cheaptickets dot com, they have really cheap flights sometimes, but they are totally restricted and VERY expensive to change.

So i had to forfeit the ticket, now we had to drive 3hrs back to my home, now I have to buy a brand new roundtrip ticket

THIS IS TOTAL F*CKING BULLSHIT!!! Anybody know a way around this stupid shit? Know a way to fly into Manila without having a flight outta that country?

I would think that you just need to prove how you are getting out of the country. How were you planning on leaving the Phillipines?

well, i planned on getting there, staying there for couple months, (i've done this before, i just pay for extensions) and then in August go to Thailand for couple weeks. Then come back to Phillipines

but i told them i was planning on travelling all thru Asia, and just taking things day by day, thats why i didnt yet have a flight leaving Phillipines

Just book a one way from Manila or Clark to Singapore via jet Airways or Hong Kong via cebu pacific. Both dirt cheap under $20 US if you book in advance. That way even if you dont use it, no great hassles! And if you do get to the end of your visa, it's easier to go out and come back in on a cheap flight than to pay the charges and wait for days at immigration!

If you don't take the trip, usually you can apply the money to another ticket on the same airline. Have you contacted the airline directly and seen what they can do?

I havent contacted the airline yet, I had the ticket counter people document my situation in the computer, but I want to see 1st where I can go from manila where I can legally have an open ended ticket to, somewhere that is cheap to fly from Manila to.

this Friday or next Friday are really the only days I'll be able to make it to the Chicago airport so wish me luck!

Sorry to hear that. I flew from Kuala Lumpur to the Phillipines and they never asked to see a return ticket before the flight. Even when going through customs, they just asked when I was planning on leaving and didn't ask to see my ticket at all.

It may be worth it to buy a one way ticket out of there, even if you don't use it. Take a look at airasia.com, theres some amazing deals flying out of Clark aiport.

hi, thanks for the tips, i looked on airasia.com and there are no flights from Manila to anywhere :(

but i was looking on cebupacificair.com and best i could find were 1 way flight from Manila -> Hong Kong for about $160USD

so if HK allows open ended 1 way flights to their country then i might be ok, i'll be calling the airlines tomorrow to ask

i'll let ya'll know what happens (so if anyone else has this problem they can find this thread in a search)

Just checked on Air Asia and you have to select Clark (Manila) in the from list. If you dont know and do use the flight, Clark is about a 2 hour bus ride north of Metro manila towards Angeles

Just checked from Clark Manila to Kota Kinibalu (Malaysia) and is $27.60 for a few random dates I chose (23rd and 28th May)
