I am from Lincolnshire England and i am planning to travel a few spots of europe next summer - i am currently looking into the best places to go that suit what i am looking for!

Any advice would be brilliant!

I will be 18 years old - i am going for 3 weeks and would like to visit at least 4 different places maybe more in this time - i am looking for places which are relaxing during the day and have lots to do and see but come alive at night and are full of vibrant nights out and great fun!

So far i think Prague and Amsterdam are two places i would like to go and also a major city in Germany.

Look forward to hearing peoples reccomendations!

If you have 3 weeks, I suggest going to 3 places and spending a week in each! I think that's the best way to really get to know a city or a people-- not to go hopping around, but to locate yourself and learn to "fit in." Prague is a great place... have you considered Paris? If you're from the UK, maybe you've already been there, but Paris has tons to see, lots of places to chill out, and many lively places at night. Another place to consider that you may not have is an island in Greece. If you locate near a major city you can enjoy the nightlife and spend your days laying on the beach or exploring little towns along the coast.

Oh-- another place that "young people" tend to love is Barcelona. It's a gorgeous city, it's warm, there's tons of things to see, it's close to the water, and they have a night life.

Hope this helps! If you get to the actual planning stages and need some links to stuff like train schedules, subway maps, etc., -snip-

[ Edit: sorry, no promos in the forum please. ]

Well, you've got your trip pretty much cut out with your post.

It shouldn't be too difficult to get to Amsterdam from the UK. From there you can take the night train to Berlin. Book way ahead if you do not have a rail pass, website is

From Berlin make your way down to Prague.

I suggest you stop in the Spreewald area for a day or two and add Dresden for a day.

In the Spreewald stay at the HI Youth Hostel in Lübben, You could rent a canoe there and explore the Spreewald for a day or if the wheather is bad, go to the nearby Tropical Island Resort.

Getting there: Take an RE or RB train from Berlin to Cottbus and get off at Lübben, fare is 8.40 EUR with VVB ticket. Travel time is 1 hour or 1 hour 30 min, depending whether you take RE or RB. (RE is faster.)

From Lübben to Dresden it is 3 hours, fare with Deutsche Bahn is 24 EUR.

Dresden to Prague is another 26 EUR with Deutsche Bahn, train takes 2-3 hours and leaves every two hours.

Have a nice trip!

Really depends what you want to do. Based on your other cities of choice, you might enjoy Hamburg. If you like the outdoors, southern Germany is the place for you - Schwarzwald and all that jazz.

Barcelona, Berlin, Oslo are 3 places i seem quite interested in, however quite fancy half partying and half relaxing - forest walks, lots of scenery, forests, rivers, streams, lakes etc!

Any further suggestions based on that ?
