booking train reservations / night train question

Travel Forums Europe booking train reservations / night train question

So, in less than a month my wife and I will be touring Paris. From Paris we'll be taking the train down to Provence. I've heard the Paris - Avignon trip can fill up quickly. So, as soon as we get to Europe, I'd like to book our reservations on the TGV. Also, we're taking the night train from Nice to Venice.

Can we book our reservations from ANY train station (such as Centraal Station in Amsterdam when we arrive in A'dam)? And, are there any tips / things to be aware of when taking the night train--neither of us has done it before.

I would just book the train ticket when you arrive in Paris. I've never had any trouble getting a ticket and have never reserved more than half a day in advance. Even when I took the night train from Venice to Nice, I just jumped on (well, almost) and that was in July when the tourist season is at its highest.

yeah, that's the way to go. Booking in Amsterdam is possible, but you'll pay a service fee comparable to what you would pay if you let a US travel agent do the booking
