Hi Everyone!

I'm new to this site so let me introduce myself...My name's Kelly, I'm from the UK and I'm planning a trip beginning Sept next year for about 15 months but this could be extended as I find out more about the countries I plan to visit.

I'm starting in Sri Lanka then heading to India inc Lacadives and plan to work my way around to include Himalayas, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and many more along the way!!.... I'm really looking for your best recommended dive sites as that will be one of the main focuses of my journey. Lacadives & Sipadan Island look amazing!! does anyone have any info you could share with me for these places or suggestions for others please?

I went with Lotus Dive Centre in Koh Pha Ngan, Thailand - its run by a lot of British PADI dive instructors.

I've so far only ever dived in Australia but I can totally recommend diving the Yongala ship wreck near Magnetic Island at the Great Barrier Reef. It was defintely one of the best experiences I've ever had. You'll see tons of fish, turtles, corals and other amazing creatures. Next month I'm off to dive at Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia, it's supposed to be great too. Can't wait to get down there ;).

In Malaysia the Perehentian Islands are pretty good for diving.

If you're gonna dive around this region in Thailand then just head to Ko Tao. There's no point doing in on Ko Samui of Ko Phag nhan as they both use the Ko Tao dive sites generally, and take AGES to get to from those islands.;)
Ko Tao has some amazing dive sites in close proximity and visibility is generally pretty good, obviously better out of the rainy season.
I definately reccommend doing a night dive as the Barracuda hunting in the dark looks amazing!

If you're coming to the Americas, diving in Belize is amazing (second biggest barrier reef in the world) and also on Turks & Caicos Island.

Thank you!!

Ko Tao is definately on the list, a friend has been there recently and also recommended it. The night dive sounds great, I've only ever done one in the Similan Islands but there wasn't much about but it was still a great experience.

I'll check out Malaysia and Australia...I love wreck dives I'm planning a trip to Scapa Flow in Scotland soon to check out the wrecks up there....hope you have a great trip Steff, let me know how you get on :)

The Americas & Tahiti will have to wait until another trip but thank you for the suggestions!

If you are flying back via the USA, then take a side trip to Honduras, The Island of Utila, laidened with Dive Sites, and the bars are laidened with Divers too! It's one of the cheapest places in the world to take PADI courses. I used Gunters Dive Shop, great people relaxed yet professional.

Cheap accomodation, in total, just cheap!

I'm presently traveling RTW and can recommend the nearly endless amount of unbelievable diving in Papua New Guinea. You should also consider the Philippines. Although I didn't do any diving there, that is probably the main draw for most people and there are lots of options including many WWII wrecks. Good Luck!
