I am part of a group of 40 students travelling around Tanzania with the World Callenge organisation. Does anyone know where we could stay CHEAPLY! We are on a small budget and want to stay together or at least in the same location We should be there from18 to 20 August,
I stayed at the Malindi lodge In Stone Town (about 15 uss/person). Phone 232359 Jambani as great beach but no cheap accomodtion, the best restaurant in the area is called Karibu restaurant just in the town center of Jambani.
Dont forget to go to the Africa House in Stone Town to see the sunset.
There were lots of places that were cheap, but not sure I saw anything in Stone Town that would accomodate 40 people. You might need to split up into a few groups.
I stayed at the Garden Inn on Kaunda Road for $20 a night. In Kendwa, I stayed at Aaman Bungalows for $33 a night. Kendwa Rocks is right next door, a bit cheaper.
For that many people, you will need to book in advance.
zanzibar is an awesome place. if i were you i would only stay in stone town for one night, apart from the history, its not that great a place to stay. there are alot of hostels for around $12. try Jambo inn. or Princess inn. i have been to zanibar a few times , and on a tight budget. i would reccomend east coast. west coast is not really populated. east coast is incredibly beautiful. stay at kimte beach inn, it was $8 when i stayed, also red monkey bungalows are cool. $8 too. kimte has breakfast included. go to these places if you just want some beach/ sun relaxation. its absolutley stunning!
