I was curious how to get from the train station in Ljubljana to the hostel (Simbol Hostel) I'm staying at and is local transportation easy? What are some must sees in the city?

From there we are going to Zagreb. We have 2 days there. Any sights you recommend seeing?

We will be traveling in Slovenia and departing from Treviso airport in Italy. What is the best way to get to Treviso? How long does it take?
We haven't decided yet whether to rent a car or use public transport in Slovenia. We want to do some hiking in the Julian Alps. Any words of advice will be appreciated.

I have a question too: Where are the best beaches in Croatia? Any beaches with some nice sand? What is the weather there? Is it windy on the beaches or do mountains block the wind? Is it generally hot and humid or hot and dry there in summer?

Zagreb is not a big city so what I would recomend is that you come to the center and then just take a walk to the Upper town (I would recomend Museum of the City of Zagreb)and then the other part of the center with many beautiful parks, cafes and nice buildings. Croatian National Theatre is worth of seeing as well. If you are interesting in nature you definately must visit beautiful park Maksimir. On the main square is the Tourist Info office for more questions.

When are you planing to visit Zagreb?

The best beaches in Croatia are definately in Dalmacia (Makarska, Brela,...)Usually it is very hot during the summer without rain but it all depends where are you going and in what time of the year.

Hi Xena,

I have plans on travelling to Croatia in October..and I am also a female that will be travelling alone. I am just starting the ground work and plan on going to Dubrovnik and Split. Any suggestions on inexpensive hostels or private accommo's? I was considering trying out a private accommodation...I hear that you can just find one when you get there...they have these ladies that come up to you and offer their homes? Is that recommended?

Also...I have no idea what the weather is going to be like in October..should I be expecting a lot of rain? Will it be quite cold?

I have more questions to come...but I'll start with this for now!

Many thanks!
