I am thinking of travelling to Africa to spend half of the time on safari and half on the beach, can any recommend the best country for this? Also Has anyone been to Madagascar?

It really depend on the time of year when deciding which will be the best place, if going on to Madagascar, i would say Tanzania or Kenya, do a little search on the annual wildebeest migration, you can fly from Nairobi to Madagascar.

We would be looking to go early next year like Jan/Feb. Do you know which airline flys to Madagascar, ive googled it but cant seem to find anything! Have you been to Madagascar?

Jan-Feb is the best the very best time to be in Tanzania ! it is the migration time :-)
from Tanzania to Nairobi it is a $20 shuttle bus which takes five hours, or a short flight which costs circa $200 pp.
i have not been to Mad except in transit to Reunion, also via Nairobi.

Thanks for the that. I do actualy fancy going to Tanzania as well as Madagascar. If I were to go for three weeks what would you suggest doing apart from Safari? I would like to travel the country and see as much as poss. Also is it safe to walk about on your own especially at night?

Well apart from a safari you could climb Kilimanjaro or Mt Meru or even Ol Doinyo Lengai <active volcano :-)
Plently of cultural add ons to, safaris available, and chill out on Zanzibar.

Again forgot something, there are few places in East Africa where you can walk around at night, even locals dont unless needed, Zanzibar is one place where you can in relative safety.

Hi ,

There are many options for your safari on beach and wildlife. You can try the beacxhes in Mombasa and Malindi in Kenya, awesomeplace and the wildlife in Kenya with the huge big cats of Africa is an experience you will never forget. Let me know if you need help and I am capable of putting something in place

You shouldn't count out South Africa. You can see the big 5 on safari and lie on world class blue flag beaches, plus you have the benefit of being in a country that's Africa, yet cosmopolitan enough to be extremely travel friendly. If you have any questions, shoot away, I'll be happy to assist.
