i know theirs alot of controversy and dislike toward americans, i've seen it first hand. i had people try and fight me, people insult and pass me off just because i am an american. I dont take it too personaly just beacuse these people who pass people off at first site mean nothing to me they have no depth to their personality.

im just wondering what peoples true thoughts on americans as a whole?

Haven't we been down this track before? I'm sick of this topic.

We sat behind two increasingly drunk, middle-aged couples from Texas at supper one evening in Praiano. The men were debating the pros and cons of every US president since the mid-1800s and achieving that slurring, warbling tone of people who have more than a glass of wine with supper only once a year - while their wives sat mute and, presumably, hoping one or the other husband would give in and shake on it. They were the only Americans I felt like throwing my bowl of soup on the whole trip, although mostly because no one else in the room could hope to carry on a conversation.

Mind, they could have been from any country debating any topic. It's that they were annoying, loud and ignorant that made them unlikable.

Some people are gluttens for punishment...

Oh, many times, James, many times. I tend to agree with you about being "sick" of the subject, but probably for different reasons. I'm just a bit tired of being "ugly American" in most of the discussions - not me personally - but Americans in general.

Tyler - do a search for "Americans" and you'll find several threads that will answer your question. Or, wait until someone answers and the debates begin again. As always, please keep the comments civil and refrain from personal attacks. Discussions, such as these, do tend to stir the pots of emotions. Thanks!

I'm sick of it for the same reason. It's just another 'let's bash the yanks' thread.

Let's move on.

Now what do we think of Americans mmmmmm
Well as this is a topic that gets bashed about, i'm wondering why an american wants to keep repeating this question?
A comfort blanket maybe?
An ego boost?
or just can't be bothered thinking of something new?

Who knows? but I post this question since the one here has been answered so many times. And James has already secured the keys to the pub from the gracious and lovely ISA.;)

.

Question: Do you think that the Flintstones and the Rubbles ever had swinging (wife swap) parties?

I would say without a doubt that there was a lot of bam-bam going on!
