Travel Forums Europe Living in Europe

I am looking to move to Europe after this upcoming christmas, and would like any valuable info on where to move. I would like to live somewhere cheap, safe, and has reasonably good weather. I know Europe is considered expensive, but there are areas of each City and town where you can find good cheap accomodation. And not in the seedy areas either. I have spoken to other people aboput this and got a lot of good info on other forums. I was hoping that I could get more info from the experiences of people on this forum. I have been told Spain, Portugal, Eastern Germany and Czech Republic are the best. Also Austria is pretty good too. Any further info would be appreciated.

Most importantly is maybe - how are you going to make a living? Or are you one of those Canadians fortunate enough to either hold a EU-passport, qualify for a working visa or rich enough that money doesn't matter? What visa are you going to get?

As much as I love my home Eastern Germany, I cannot see you finding a job here anytime soon if you do not speak German fluently. Unemployment is high, there is a reason so many East Germans emigrate to Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, Canada, etc. Perhaps you have a better chance in Berlin. *shrugs*

Also consider Poland, if you want it cheap.
