Dear fellow travellers,
I'm after a little advice from those who have travelled through China and South East Asia. I'm heading there later this year as part of my round the world trip. I have my tent with me so there is the option to camp. Has anyone camped in Asia? I'm guessing that there won't be designated camp sites as there are in US/Aus/NZ etc, but is it safe to camp off the beaten track when hiking / exploring???
Any advice from those who may have done it would be gratefully received!
If you plan to travel through Pakistan, I can give you plenty of advice, where to go ,what to avoid, camping grounds and lots of other information. If Pakistan's on your list especially traveling on the Silk route, I can help you.
I would really caution you about camping in SEA. It is hot most of the year and raining the rest. I am not sure about the safety issue, but a single female sleeping outside sounds like a bad idea. It just does not seem worth the risk/effort to camp in hot, heavily populated countries. If you hook up with another female, you could stay in many places for $3-4/nite each. At that rate, I would not even consider sleeping outside in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, VN, Malaysia. That is my 2 cents worth.
