At 47 and just split with my husband I have decided to do what I love the most and haven't done for years...travel!
I have booked an overland tour with Oasis going from Cairo to Capetown then go it alone from there.
Do you think I am too old for the overland tour?? I am pretty young at heart, but worried I shall be thought of as the old fogey!!!
I would also be interested to hear if anyone has done something similar..ie escaping after a bad experience!
Thanks.

I'don't think you're too old, too.
You just have to be aware, that travelling is as easy as it was with 18.
So you'd better not go with a tent but look out for a bit more confort and take hotels. Yeah, that would be my advise.

Good for you Claire!

Even if the people you meet travelling are "younger" in years, in my experience the people you meet travelling don't care about stuff like that. Your life experiences are what make you an interesting, inspiring, strong person! And you're only as old as you feel!

Why not with a tent? As long as you don't have any back problem tents are cheaper, more exiting and closer to the real stuff than staying in fancy hotels! Claire, I think it's awesome that you are going, good luck!!!
