Hey! I'm going interailing in July, starting in Poland and ending in Greece at the end of the month. Planning on spending between a week and 2 weeks on the islands... Might spend the last 5 days on ONE island and just book a house or something (between 7 of us)..
Has anyone got any recommendations? Which islands are the best? Any good routes worth taking??!

I'd appreciate ANY help! :-)

Thanks,
Jonathan

My friend (right next to me) has been to Crete and says it was wonderful because the temp was great (but it was in November maybe during summer it will be too hot), it's the biggest and the most developed island. close to the city of Hania there are really pretty gorges (samaria gorges) where you can walk. The city of Rethymno is more nightlife and there is a really nice youth hostel.

You can pass through Iraklio because there is not a lot to see but in the south east, Paleohora is a realcute town with awesome beaches. Also, from there you can take the boat and visit other islands.

It also seems that the volcanic island of Santorini, even though smaller is magnificent.

hope it helps

I spent a week on the island of Rhodes. It was awful. The accomodation was very basic, we'd have gotten much more for our money elsewhere. We went to Falaraki one night, it was just as you might imagine - full of British yobs. Lindos, where we stayed was nothing you couldn't find anywhaere else - very dissappointing. Rhodes town was okay though.
