After a stay in Barcelona i have to go back to Torino. I have a few days and need to find another destination on the way back. Lyon sounds very interesting but i only have 3 days, is that enough? Is Avignon worth a visit? If there are any other recommendations please let me know.

thanks in advance

Toulouse is a nice place to visit, there's also Bordeaux and Marseilles which have some good places near them - Arles is close to Marseilles and Bordeaux has Biarritz and La Rochelle nearby. Those would be my suggestions.

I loved Lyon, and I would definatly reccomend anyone going there. I think you can see a fair amount of the city in one full day and a night.

Another place on the way from Barca. would be Carcassone. It is a fully walled city, with all walls intact. I have a photo on my Carcassone on my blog.http://www.travellerspoint.com/photos/stream/size/M/photoID/12906/

I quite enjoyed walking around the walls, and exploring the city. I was there in Autumn though so there wasnt to many tourist, I think it can get quite busy in the higher seasons with package tourists.

Avigon is also another good option. I think you would need to stick to the East coast, as the trains dont cross east-west very well.

Hi!!!!

I would definitely go for Toulouse or Marseille, or both, one day for each. Just for your information, Toulouse is a bit away from your way to Torino... Check www.mappy.com for itineraries, fuel costs, kilometers and travelling times by car from one place to another.

I was in Toulouse for 9 months and it was just fantastic, specially in Spring time, before all the students take their summer holidays!!!!

Actually Bordeaux and Biarritz are in the other side of France, on the west coast, and that will take you about 8 hours from Barcelona to get there, and then from there to Torino, I don't even know, but a bunch of hours I don't think you would ever consider driving or travelling...

Hope it helps!
Yolanda

That is true about Bordeaux, Lyon is also a little out of the way, I think Toulouse or Marseille would make the most sense.
