stayed at probably the worst B&B in Italy called Pitagora, close to the railway station in Rome. Its location was in a bad area of Rome with dirty streets, beggers and the lots. The accomodation was no better. We paid a hefty AUD 139 a night for private facilities when it was not worth $50.The rooms were poorly lit, and smelt musty with linen obviously bought and washed from a second hand store.the breakfast was one crossoint with a tiny flat white. I would rate it 1 out of 10. 1 because the toilets were just ok.
in the area surrounding Termini station there's plenty of bad hotels. Is also one the quarters with the massive immigration of the city, it's not so safe during the night, (especially the area around Vittorio square, underground stop: Vittorio emanuele).searching through internet prices look cheaper than in other areas of rome, but often the accommodation are really bad.
That explains the apartment we stayed at on Amadeo. It was clean enough, but it was a shack in the middle of a courtyard, surrounded by apartment blocks on all sides. Plus we had to wade through drunken locals to get to the front door every night. I wouldn't have wanted to stay there alone, and I'm not usually fussy about such things. The other side of the Termini seemed much nicer, though.
it's true, the other part of Termini, and also Cavour street, it's better and safer
