Hello there everyone,

I have seen posts come up now and then about sharing the costs of sailing. You know the ones: "I have a sail boat and will be going for three months around the islands and I am looking for people to join me"...

Have there been any recent ones, I am really interested in doing this. And does anyone have any experiences or stories to tell.

Assuming you know how to sail, you can sometimes just pick up a ride by hanging around the docks / marina and seeing if anyone needs a crew hand.

There are websites that also facilitate this. Here's one that I found: Floatplan looking for crew.

Enjoy your sails. Watch out for sirens.

Thanks a lot GW! I don't really know how to sail... so it is kind of my plan to also learn as much as I can.

sounds good, where do i sign up. this sounds like it would be an awsome experience, especially since my grandfather was working on ships since he was 12. 1940's onward. he even has some stories of world war two happenings on the water.

Hey Brendan,

There are lots of them. Try “Sailnet.com” Crew wanted message board. I just recently crewed from the British Virgin Islands (Tortola) to Norfolk VA aboard a 1979 51 foot Formosa. Look at the crew wanted and post in the crew available of the sailing boards like Sailnet, http://cruiserlog.com/forums/

Can’t wait to go again!
