Hey guys, this isn't a competition between Australia and the UK, is it?

Regarding the water quality in Australia, I've heard it's undrinkable (compared to Swedish standards) because it has got so much chlorine in it. But what do I know? I never went. It's just rumours. ;)

Susanna I must inform you that Sydney is going through a drought at the moment, and the authorities have seen fit to top up the dams with Evian.

It's quite nice to drink, but the sellers of mineral water are not happy.

Of course this isn't a competition. Its not about slagging off the country you are currently living just cos you're a bit homesick, nor is it an ethical discussion about euthanasia in Holland or whatever.

I merely was trying to encourage people to share positive things about where they are from. Like, you guys in Australia have all those vast open spaces, fascinating wildlife, produce good wine, and New Zealand is just amazingly beautiful etc, Aussie and Kiwis have great senses of humour...

It so easy to only look at the bad things about our own countries, and while comments like James's are perfectly valid and it does need attention drawing to (maybe somewhere else) I wanted this to be a happy smiley loving thread where we think about nice things for once.....

The world is not all bad...Come on guys, get those rose-tinted specs on and spread the love!

The unique and idealistic fundamental ideas that the United States rests upon. Ancient China believed in Confucianism, Rome in social order, Britain in a civilizing mission, and the United States in a role as a "land of liberty."

Australia has a population of just 20 million people but is as successful, in any way you want to measure success, as countries with populations 5, 10, 15 times our size.

I know its back to the UK again, but I'm very proud of the Queen. She has done such an amazing job over the last 50 years, she's made tough decisions. Though has an idiot for a son, she is a fantastic ambassador. I know people have different (and stong) opinions about the royals...but I think they're great. We wouldn't be GREAT Britian without them. on a seperate note, I think Charles should abdicate & William suceed. And Wills is also very sexy!!

mmm...Also love the fact that you can drive 1 hour and reach the beautiful coast line. (I live in Devon, lucky me)

Devon ice cream is amazing-anyone who hasn't tasted Langage Farm Ice Cream is missing out!!!

I love the different seasons..Grey skies with silver lining, all the different colour greens that come out after the rain..Spring when all the lambs are born & daffodils grow, summer weeks of pure sunshine & snow so cold it makes your nose go red and your fingers go white.

I LOVE ENGLAND!!!
