philophil has indicated that this thread is about India

Hi,
i have just managed to work on line, and this is time to travel now :) i plan to live 4-5 months in south India to meet local people and travellers, learn surfing and work online.... The best thing should be staying 1-2 month in a soft touristic place (Goa ?) as a first cultural contact and then diving 100% in a non touristic spot.

Any idea regarding a place to stay first ?

Is this lifestyle wellcome overthere or is it too much occidental oriented ?

Cheers

Hi Mate

You can try and stay at places near Baga beach, as it is quite a cool place with lots of tourists and quite safe as well. Also you can get good accomodation. You get a variety of choices on accomodation you might have to hunt around.

There is another beach next to Baga (Calangunte if i am not wrong )as these two are considered as cool location for western tourist. Also there are good beaches like Anjuna

Alternatively if you like to live with the local people you can try at Margoa (sometime said as Madugoa by localities sorry if i have spelt wrongly) known for good churches and good to look around. Banaulim is the closest good beach in south

As a capital Panjim is a good place for a day

Vasco da gama beach has good water sports (pls check for beach names again)

After Goa which direction r u planning to head towards in south india, let me know

cheers

Bonjour! Perhaps you wanna check out Gokarna Beach further down from Goa. You can take a train to the nearest train station. I was there sometimes dec 2002 traveling by myself alone and found out and explore there is few other beaches which is awesome to check out. Gokarna, Kudlee beach, Om beach, half moon beach and the last one I cant remember, where you can track a bit to each beach. That if you like quiet to chill out. If you lazy to walk you can hire trycle. The places its not crowded like Goa anyway.
And maybe you want to check out Hampi too. I've been in Vijayawada where I can get J. Krishnamurti book but it's ok place. I wish I can go again soon as I'd like to go to the north India in Sikkim.

Thats just an Idea anyway. happy traveling.

Hello guys,

thanks a lot for answering, i am still at paris starting my new pro activity online (journalism), and i need to be connected all day actually... and this situation tells how paradoxical could be the fact to travel and work in the same time. I wonder i won't be able to be in palces that are not well connected to the internet...

i'll check those beaches out on a map and decide it soon, some people told me that Kerala should be the best place to be since it is not so touristic, it has also a big "commercial" town, so there should be no problem for an internet connexion... Are those places you both mentionned are also connected

Cheers
