Also try Africa in Focus...the best truck on the road in terms of comfort and I would bet the best food and best guides too. They do a trip that goes from Nairobi to Vic Falls and then Vic Falls to Cape Town. Well worth it!

Yea i heard about Kumukaafrica before i went to South Africa, a friend didnt have the greatest experience, but results in the past dont guarantee anything for the future! So i dont know.

I took a trip with overlanding africa and it was the best trip i had in my life. Just because of the options you had and the crew was awesome!

Hi all - have a look at

It is a dedicated independent website that offers a chance for people to advise others on the benefits and disadvantages of travelling with overland companies. I also went on a overland tour and I was critical of the way the company organise things.

I'm curious to know what Flo Jo said, but what ever it was, I probably agree. Of all of the travel companies I have used I would say Kumuka rated close to the bottom.

The best thing for you to do is book a safari with a company that has a base in east africa.

Why? incase you have a problem it will be easy to solve it unlike trying to call people who are miles away from you.

I work in the tourism industry here in Kenya, the company that you are using is just using a company here in Kenya or Tanzania. All what they will be telling you will not be a 100% corect, reason they are not based here.

They dont have facts on their finger tips wbaout what is happening on the ground.

They will just get your money then deposit in an international bank account with a less % then will tell you will meet their representative.

The best thing is to work with people you on the ground in east africa.
