This might come across as incredibly stupid, but I'm gonna ask anyway and hope someone will answer!
Do they sell cheap cds in Bangkok that will play in your average cd player (I'm from the UK)?
Anyone who has any clue, i would greatly appreciate a response!
I did see copy cds on sale in the Kho San Road area in Bangkok, but I didn't buy any, I'm sure they would play on your CD player. IMO I don't really think it's worth buying them though, seeing as you can now download music for pretty cheap these days.
You can find cheap CD's for sale in lots of places in Bangkok, Pattaya too!
The cheap CD's you get will most likely be pirated knockoffs. Some will work on your home player and some will not.
There will be travellers who will say that they have never got caught by customs when they returned home. You could be the exception. If the CD's are real cheap they are probably illegal back in your home country.
Patpong market, Sukhumvit street vendors, New Petchaburi Road street vendors and the Pantip Plaza (huge electronics mall on New Phetchaburi Road) will have lots of CD's for sale.
They're all over the place. You'll find them in street markets and in a lot of malls as well, but the more "market" type malls where individual retailers rent shop space.
But don't go overboard, you might be checked by customs coming back, in whicnh case you'll probably have them taken off of you, it's probably advisable to only get a few.
