Hope someone can help please!! I leave for Australia to spend a year travelling there and can't decide whether to take my walking boots. I do quite a bit of walking at home (it is something I enjoy) and have a really comfy pair of boots so if I'm going to need some I would rather take my own than buy some as they're worn in and I know they fit right. Will a good pair of trainers be good enough instead. Just don't want to carry a heavy pair of boots around if I'm not going to use them!! Cheers Rach

Rach,
It's handy having the boots if you are intending on doing anything in the bush, and if your intending on going to NZ later there are a lot of really good tracks that require good comfy boots.
If the boots are heavy, it might be worth leaving them behind and picking up something either in aus or nz.

Thanks Jase. The boots aren't particularly heavy just don't want to carry them and not use them. I would like to go see the rain forest in Daintree so presumably it would be a good idea to have them for that? Anyone know if theres any good walking/hiking to be done in the blue mountains? Thank for the help :)

better having them and not using em than going somewhere nice and wishing " if only id have brought my boots" - best to prepare for every eventuality.

Rach,
I'd definately take them since you seem to be heading into the bush. There are loads of walks thoughout the blue mountain region. Check out the tourist info website, it should give you some ideas.
Have a great trip
