Does anyone else get these really weird reactions before of during a trip? I've found that often, in the past, I get some sort of reaction while I'm on a trip. It never interferes with my vacation, and it usually happens whilst travelling, like the actual flight/drive over. On my last trip, which was a road trip, the skin from started peeling off of my hands... we're talking about a Canadian in FEBRUARY, so it's no suburn reaction. Of all odd questions to ask....

Well to make you and others feel better, I get weird before travelling. My main thing is that I can't sleep the night before because I'm thinking if I'm forgetting anything (you'd think I wouldn't sleep because of the excitement ;)). I can't sleep very well on airplanes because they make me nervous, and buses make me claustraphobic. And it's funny because I'm not an outwardly nervous traveller at all, it all goes down in my head so no one's the wiser. :) That said, travelling is my passion and I wouldn't not do it because of my little issues.

Cheers,
Katie ;)

my first trip to paris i stayed in a friend of a friend's apartment in the latin quarter. i have no idea how old it was, or if there was invisible mould or something, but i got a huge rash up both arms spanning about an inch on either side of the inside elbows. walking through paris for the first couple days i had to keep stopping to sit down on the curb, i was so dizzy. we left for belgium about a week later and everything cleared up and i was fine. i don't know if it was the house, perhaps a reaction to odd cheese, or the absolute thrill of being in paris for the first time...
ive since been back to test out these three theories, but haven't had any abnormal skin reactions...guess ill just have to keep trying!

I don't have any weird reactions while travelling, but I become really ansious as soon as I decide to go somewhere and start counting the days until my departure. It's starting to happen now, I'm planning an inter rail trip for this August or September, and I'm starting to get that strange ansiety, even though I still have three of for months ahead of me.

I'm going to be living in Spain for the summer. I've known since November that I am going. Around February I had a mini panic attack. I was really afraid I was going to mess up something important like my ticket or whether or not I needed a visa. Since then I've found answers to a lot more of my questions and have calmed down a lot.
I still have a few things I haven't gotten done yet and I have a nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach quite often lately but that may also be due to finishing out my school year and worrying about papers and exams as well.

Before a trip I usually can't sleep and get overly hyperactive - I don't know some would say that was weird On a trip though -never. Although I have a friend of mine which whenever she goes abroad she always comes back ill every single time. I find it quite funny

It's interesting to see the different reactions people get while travelling. Anxiety seems to be the most common! I'm actually experiencing it right now, because I'll be flying to Cuba on sunday, and I just can't wait. My skin has now gone COMPLETELY dry... I've been singlehandedly supporting the lotion industry I think... but it's nice to know that people don't think I'm a freak!

I beg to differ... I think between the two of us we are supporting the lotion industry... Are dry hands/dry skin really a symptom of nerves? I've been blaming it on winter and the dry dorms... but it's warm out now and they're still dry so maybe it's just one of those "wierd reactions"

I don't know really! It's just that it is warm now... so no excuse for my hands to be dry as paper! But alas they are!

"...Does anyone else get these really weird reactions before of during a trip?..."

The day or night before I'm about to travel, my mind goes in slow motion. I start doing everything else I can to avoid having to pack. The more times I pack, the more I hate it doing it.
