I've never actually been to Bratislava but I've heard it's nice. It might look North on a map but it won't be cold in summer, it's about 80 degrees Fahrenheit there today and it'll be just as warm as that all summer if not higher. If it were me I'd go to Bratislava, I'm sure you'd have a great time there and experience a lot of things you wouldn't experience sitting on a beach somewhere.

I stopped in at Bratislava for 2 nights in Febuary this year. Truthfully, I thought 2 nights was to long. The city centre is really catered to tourists, all the resturants and bars are catered to tourists, and the only site which is the palace and museum only takes about 2 hours to see.

But if you are staying with a freind it would probably be a fun experience. Stay with your freind for a while and then jump on a train and check out somewhere in Czech Republic.

It wouldnt be cold in summer, it wasnt too bad in the middle of winter.
