I'm travelling SE Asia ( Thailand, Laos and Cambodia) from 26th of July till 7th of September. I would like to go off the beaten tracks, but find that this probably would be a bit easier when travelling with somebody else. I'm not looking for a travel partner for the whole period of time, but if anybody is in the area around that time, I would like to hear from you. I'm flying into Bangkok the 26th. I'm 22, from Denmark and a bit of a hippy according to most people. I'm not planning to spend my time on beaches drinking, but to see as much as possible in the time I've got. So what I am looking for is a person with an open mind who is up for experiencing a bit of everything.
I had a rough (very rough, as in, I only had an idea that I wanted to visit these countries) trip planned to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, but the person I was supposed to go with bailed. I'm in Japan right now and I'm leaving at the end of July, and will be in India for a month with my boyfriend. After that, he's going home and I would like to do some travelling in SE Asia. Where do you think you'll be at the beginning of September? Might it work out to meet up? Oh, I'm 25, Canadian, female and have been teaching English in Japan for the past year.
Sounds cool. I'm not sure where I'll be around that time, but probably either cambodia or southern thailand. My story is long and complicated, but very shortly what happened was that i was first supposed to go on my own, then a friend decided that she would like to ´come along which i agreed to as it also made my family and other friends a bit more calm and now she has bailed out bacause of various reasons, so here i am going on my own which i really don't mind, but it would be nice to have some company for some of the time.
So tell me a bit more about yourself and what you have in mind.
If either of you are interested at all in Borneo, I'm planning on flying to KL at the very end of September. I want to then go to Borneo for about 2 weeks to visit Mulu National Park and then climb Mount Kinabalu; perhaps check out a few other things.
I'm now trying to sort out what to do with a remaining 4 weeks (assuming I spend 2 in Malaysia/Borneo). My thought is to fly to Chang Mai and travel east/west/south from there before flying home out of BKK. Still in planning stages, obviously.
Anyway, particularily for Borneo, wouldn't mind meeting up if anybody is interested.
It's sounds really interesting, but i'll be flying into Bangkok on the 26th of July and got a flight back on the 7th of September, so I guess I'll miss out on that one
Shame cause it sounds really interesting! However if you for some reason decide to go earlier you're welcome to contact me.
I'm a 25 year old Canadian female, living and working in South Korea right now. I'm planning on traveling Thailand-Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam starting September 2006. I was supposed to be meeting a friend flying in from Canada, but she just bailed on me this morning. Although I had an idea of what my itinerary was going to be, that plan's now out the window so honestly I'd be up for anything.
I still have plans to meet up with another friend around the 13th of September, but that leaves me with almost 2 weeks by myself. I'd really prefer to not be by myself that entire time, it'd be cool to have someone to travel/chill with...if you girls want to chat about trying to meet up somewhere in the beginning of September, that'd be awesome.

Hi indio, Lizzie et. al.
Don't really have too much in mind yet, actually! Preparing to move away from Japan, and planning my India trip have been keeping me busy, and since my plans completely changed, they are now very open. I had considered trying to find a small volunteer project, but I don't think that would be possible for such a short time. Now that it seems there may be people to meet up with, I'm thinking about my travel route again. I don't have much time, so all of the following will not be possible, but I am interested in: Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam. Regular travelling, touring, site-seeing, markets (I love asian markets), maybe some trekking/kayaking although not necessary because I will probably get my share in northern India, maybe diving in Vietnam if anyone was interested... anything really. I don't want to spend my time drinking on a beach either, but I'm not opposed to doing it once or twice: ) I don't know where I will be in terms of money by then, and I don't have a job to go home (or a home for that matter!)so I'm in favor of cheap.
Do you know yet, where you will be at the beginning of September? My planning with people isn't going so well! If you aren't in Thailand (I've already been in the south part and would rather see a different country)then meeting up might be good.
Sorry i haven't been on for a while, just returned from an awesome Roskilde festival. I'm not quite sure yet where I will be in the beginning of September, but probably in Cambodia I reckon. It's difficult to plan this for ahead i think, but I'm planning to spend about two weeks in each country doing first Thailand, then Lao and then Cambodia. So as the plans are now i guess that's where I will be at in the beginning of September. Mind you I'm flying home on the 7th so I won't have much time in September.
Anybody in Thailand this July 12 onwards? I'll be there. Hand ma a PM if you want a meet-up
