Calabria & Sicily

Has anyone been there and what villages would you recommend staying at?

I don't know these areas very well, I only came across calabria, and I visited sicily 15 yaers ago.
in any case, I can suggest about tropea (calabria) and, for sicily,
palermo,(and zingaro natural reserve on the coast near the city) ragusa ibla, the old city), agrigento (temple valley), Taormina, erice, monreale, piazza armerina (roman mosaics).
