Hello... Im still new to photography and learning, but just curious... how many lenses do you take with you when youre traveling? Or do you take all of them? I'm considering buying the Canon 70-300 IS and not bringing any other lenses...any suggestions? I think I'll be going to Morocco (still planning)...THANKS
the 70-300 IS Canon lens will do for a lot of things, but it won't get you everywhere. There are a variety of zoom lenses on the market and if your only wanting to take one lens, i'd think about one of these:
24-105mm, 28-108mm, or 28-200mm.
Watch out though, Canon have a very confusing array of lenses out there at the moment. Some may sound the same, but they are not the same quality. If you get a IS lens you will be gaining a couple of F stops at the extended zoom (big advantage).
Also they have EF lenses and EF-S lenses, the EF-S lenses are designed for the lower end digital SLR cameras (300D, 350D) and have a smaller lens. These EF-S lenses will not work on higher spec cameras (1D, 5D). What lens you buy will depend on what camera model you have and if you want to upgrade in the future.
Happy shopping, and have a great trip.
thanks so much for your help...i have the canon 20d right now
Great camera (I'm biast, I've got one)so go for the EF lens.
I'm actually looking for a couple of lenses, just seeing if I can get them for a bargin (haven't seen one yet).
Good luck on you search
