I did this trip last year and at any travel'agent' along the Khao San Road you can get a bus ticket to Siem Reap in Cambodia. Price wise seems to depend on how gulible you look! We got ours, fro I think 600Baht, there were people who got one for 300 and people who spent 1000! These were told they were getting a luxuary coach- there is NO such thing! You will get passed from minibus
to minibus, dropped of at a random cafe and have your passport taken from you to get a visa and when you finally get to Cambodia you are on a road which takes 6hours to do a 30min journey, because it is literally dirt track.
It was a real highlight of my trip, it is brilliant fun, the main bridge was flooded and we broke down but it was really funny, some people we met ended up walking knee deep in water with their backpacks for a good while!
You can't go to Cambodia from Thailand without that tale!!

Take a train from BKK to the Cambodian Border. A...something. Costs less than EUR 2,00,-- then a tuk tuk to the border about EUR 1,--
Take a normal bus from BKK Ekamai Bus Station to Trat , there a Minibus to the C. Border (EUR 2,--) .Then walk across the border (you might have to pay Bath 1200,-- instead of USD 20,--, because of c....). Then a motorcicle taxi to Khon Kong (or so) for EUR 1--. Then there is a speed boat to Sihanoukville for 500 Bath (tourist price).
As the roads in C. are extremely bad, the second alternative is the more comfortable (Rd. Sihanoukville-P.P. and P.P. -Battambasng oare O.K.), b ut for Angkok wat the first route is the chois. The road from the border to Angkor is extremely bad.
