Personally l think alcohol should be banned and they should be only held on rainy days keeps the riotious sorts in doors!!!

City ordinances around us ban the consumption of alcohol on the streets and sidewalks. Special permits have to be issued allowing liqour consumption outside of an establishment so certain festivals and block parties are approved, but the streets must be cordoned off to traffic. It helps keep things from becoming a free-for-all most of the time...

I like the rainy day idea! It's hard to play bagpipes when the "bags" are wet. ;)

Personally, I think they should scrap the whole marching thing and everyone should head to the nearest Clement's to celebrate "Caramel Square and Banoffee Pie" day.

OH it IS illegal to drink on the streets but blind eyes are turned during such parades as if the police go in heavy handed it can cause and has caused more trouble!

Tina whilst l like your idea of Carmel Sq and Banoffee day (and they do REALLY fabulous mini apple crumbles!) l dont want every Tom Dick or Harry (no offence boys!!) finding out about Clements and their sweet treaties cos then there will be none left for me!!

But as for the NI parades, I think if both sides of the fence just take a chill pill, it's only a parade so compromise ought to limit any agrovation.

Jase do you want to come over and sort the sides out!!

I wish it was that easy. But this is one of the many cases where everyone on both side have lost the plot over religeon.

I couldnt agree more Jason - l think the old order need to be removed and stand down for younger people who are more concerned with socio-economic matters as opposed which God you pray too.

It was on the radio here this morning that an Orange Order parade on Saturday have been allowed to walk down the Springfield Road which is 99.9% nationalist/Catholic area and this is causing uproar already.

Im just so tired of all this nonsense - l hope it rains on Saturday that way it should keep problems down (that is my theory anyway!)

Work on the rain theory.
One day a year having someone walking past your house isn't going to change your life.
But what are you going to do??????

Legalise dope and there wouldn't be a problem, everyone would be more relaxed and mellow..

Convert all the churches into pubs and dancehalls. After awhile, they'll be so pissed, they'll forget which one they're in... After dope is legalized - bowls of spliffs strategically placed on the bars (next to the snacks) will really do nicely.
