Can anyone tell me if its easy to get seasonal work at the end of the year between November and January? I just wanted to plan ahead as Im considering doing 3 months to get a 2nd visa. Also is Victoria a good decent place to do it?

It might be, but make sure you realise at that time of year it can be very very hot, and you may have little or now shelter from the sun.

Patience, if you are talking about fruit picking, you wont have a problem getting work in November, most of the picking starts around December but they pick dried fruits, citrus, etc all year round.
It will be hot but thousands of people do it every year so it wont kill you.
If you are wanting to do some other sort of seasonal work then you wont have a problem as Melbourne is one of the event capitals of the world and there is plenty happening here over summer (Ashes, Australian Open, Formula One) or you could try the casino or one of the many recruitment agencies for short term work.

Not really sure which kind of seasonal work I want to do. Im getting the impression its all hard work and I realsise its hot at that time of year. You gotta do what you gotta do though I guess. If there is an easier way of getting an extension on a visa Id like to know about it. If there isnt then seasonal work it is. Ive heard that Victoria is quite popular but if there are closer places to sydney that anyone knows of then even better.

Hey, i'm just going to do a post about this. I'm in Sydney and i'm going to Mildura-Victoria, i leave this sunday. I'm going by greyhound and it takes about 18 hours and its only $125.

Come down and join me. I really dont want to do this either but like you said its for my visa extention-it sucks but hey, its what you got to do.

Patience, You will need to be reasonably fit to pick fruit, especially in the heat and if they pay by the bin, (which is the norm in New Zealand,) fitness is a must otherwise the pay will be limited.
