When I look at the Prices of Safaris this get me so mad.
I am on budget and I intend to get to some N.parks without
relying on Tours or stuffs like this.
I can use Publics transport to get to the Gates or either wait and Hitch a ride to get into the Parks.
I know that I would still have to pay the Entrance fees, thaT'S O.K.
Did anyone manage to do so by himself. I am sure it is feasible, if you use your brain, and avoid toursit traps such as Safaris!!!
You may find someone to take you to the Park gate but you wont be able to enter, as it´s forbidden to walk in the national park. The places where you can get out of the jeep are really regulated (Hotel, camping). Obviously there are no public transport inside the park.
Have done a safari in Kenya (on a budget) for a week food, accomodation, transport, Entrance fee (one in the north and the masai mara), even went to do some tourism outside the park and all that for 315 us dollar (7 years ago)(Friends went four years ago and the price was the same).

I know a guy based in Cape Town who can organize a budget custom safari for you. It's the closest thing you'll get to a "do it yourself" without actually doing it yourself. Send me a message if you're interested and I'll get you in touch with him.
