Im just curious - and lm positive this has been posted before BUT - does anyone actually rate posts in threads - l never remember too. Would it be feasible that before a new post is sent to a thread members are asked to rate the post they are replying too? Not in the general forums but in the travel specific ones? Is this just too silly (tell me if lm daft l dont mind everyone does)

Purdy, I think you have a point there. Especially since ratings on postings determine people's ranking :-)

If I see some especially helpful post (or sometimes also an especially unhelpful one), particularly when it's by a newer member, I do take out a few seconds to rate it, yes.

Don't think a forced rating would be of much use. Determining the post that is being "replied to" isn't trivial either. Could be both the original post, the last made post, or even something halfway through the thread. And if the original post is just a one line question asking a semi-frequently asked question, does that per definition mean it deserves a low rating? (It shouldn't imo.) And...

edit: Ooh, cool, I see I just made Guru! I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me (aka rated my posts *g*), my parents, my parrot, the neighbours, my friends, that random guy I passed on the street five years ago, and that caveman long ago who first thought that fire was pretty spiffy and thus set in motion the long road to our current internet-based society. :)

Guru Sander... Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? How's Ravi these days?

Did you master the art of levitation already? What's the way to eternal happiness?

Does this mean you can get away with changing our titles to "Janitor" now without getting in trouble???

I didn't know your parrot was named Ravi... Does he play the sitar too???

Squaawk! Okay, so you've caught me. Sander doesn't really exist; he's just a figment of my fertile avian imagination, which has allowed me to earn mad bucks with programming and posting here, with me investing of all my earnings from that in my banana and peanut plantations!
And I would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you meddling humans! *flaps his wings*

Who needs levitation when you can fly? And the way to eternal happiness is an eternal supply of bananas, peanuts and subservient humans to scratch your head when you have an itch.

Ommmmmmm....
