My (usual) list for a 5+ hour flight:
- thin paperback (under 200 pages)
- puzzle magazine, 6cm x 10cm notepad, and two pens
- PDA (or laptop, but that's heavy)
- MP3 player loaded and fully charged
- A 500ml bottle of water for every 4 hours of flight
- fruit/muffins/sandwich in case the food is terrible
- Toothbrush and toothpaste in a ziploc
- a small bar of soap in a ziploc
- two extra ziploc bags (garbage, dirty underwear)
- a packet of moist-wipe towels
- a packet of kleenex
- a quick-dry sports towel
- a light t-shirt (ever spilt anything mid-flight?)
- a pair of shorts
- 1 or 2 pair of underwear (if I'm feeling funky)
All told, it weighs under 5kg. What's your list?
Did you get any ideas from this or have suggestions?
With only a few more things you wont need to check in any other luggage........
After losing my luggage for 4 days and realizing I packed my toiletries in my checked luggage, I now pack:
- contact solution and case (travel size)
- all meds
- toothbrush and paste
- face cream
- foundation (a must have)
- wet wipes
- bottle of water
- earphones (except for lat time when I forgot)
- change of shirt, socks, underwear
- a sweater
- plus I usually stuff my purse into my backpack, so I also carry all the essential purse things.
My carry-on list:
-Change of underwear (just in case)
-Light pullover clothes (if the plane is cold, which it usually is)
-A jacket, ONLY if I will need it at my destination
-Baby wipes or hand wipes (great for a refreshing "bath" mid-flight)
-All ID and financial info-- passport, wallet, destination information, directions
-Headphones (airplanes almost always have a plug in on your armrest with music channels, but some charge to use the headphones)
-Advil/Asprin, for the headache the flight will likely give me
In my opinion, everything else is pretty dispensible.
my essentials for a trip (which almost always begins with me flying to Hong Kong - 8hrs) are;
-Book, something fairly big for the long flight eg Dan Brown
-iPod, headphones, charger
-PSp so i dont miss episodes of Prison Break :P
-sudoku book :P
and lip balm coz its soo dam dry on the plane!
every flight thats wat I pack.
My Toiletries Bag (including my makeup...although I think I'm gonna pack away some larger bottles of shampoo/conditioner now on tho)
Extra shirt/light fleece
Book - Usually guides
Reisen - I've bought a bag everytime since my first flight.
Few snack foods
Passport & ID's of course
depends on the flight time
3 hrs: reading material, music, (if on flight entertainment sucks ) documents and laptop
3-6 hrs: include an inflatable head pillow
>8 hrs: include toiletries (usually provided by better airlines), breathmints/gum for the benefit of nearby passengers, change of clothes
of course all meds and sugar snacks if diabetic
what ever the flight time is,I took my lessons just beeing a 20 min.hop
to the Island I live could end up easy to a 24 hour trip.
handluggage means to me 1 clean t-shirt/blouse,underwaer and my toothbrush, hairebrush, deo, just the things to make you feel human
after many hours of flying or just sitting and waiting for a delated flight.
I arrived after a really long non stop flight to Nz,my luggage was not on the same flight I took it easy, moved on,bought some new things till my suitcase was delivered 15 days later.
After 5 days and more you will not very much miss all the "importend"items from your suitcase anymore.
condoms (just in case)
maybe some reading material
i might go out and buy the playstation portable... hmmm

Wow some of these lists are quite extensive lol. I've always been happy with a book, some sort of music player and contact lens solution Guess it goes to show I've never had lost luggage or been stranded for an extended period of time........
