I'm planning to have my honeymoon in New Zealand.
But I don't know where to start as I have never been to NZ and I have limited budget.
I prefer a restful and relaxed trip rather than trying to visit as many places as possible. So I need recommendation on the best places to visit in New Zealand.. probably 3 places over 1 week/10 days?
A bit of beach view, mountains and of course the Lord of the Rings filming locations must be included.
thank u guyss..
The South Island is supposed to be quieter & more scenic than the north. I would suggest choosing one of the islands & staying there (more relaxing than trying to cram both in). I haven't been to either, so can't suggest much I'm afraid. Maybe look at a map of one of the islands, do a little bit of internet research for a few of the places depending on what you want to do & then decide. I think Lord of The Rings was prety much filmed all over so it won't matter which Island you pick in that respect.
Lake Taupo in the North seems a bit touristy from what I've heard, but all the outdoor activities can be done there. Milford Sound in the South looks fantastic, kayaking & cruising etc but most peoples diaries I've read usually say "raining again today"! So it really depends on what you want to do
Have you asked any of the travel helpers?

Of course 7-10 days would not give you much time to see the country however as this is for your honeymoon I will suggest this Itinery for a short stay. Arrive at Auckland Airport, travel to Taupo town a 4 hour drive by car. Taupo is a huge fresh water lake in the centre of the North Island, excellent trout fishing, surrounded by mountains. Plenty of charter boats for romantic twilight cruises. Extreme activities include, jet boats ride on the Waikato river, bungy jumping, para gliding over the lake. Allow 2-3 days. Next.....Travel south 2 hours to Turangi. Visit Tongariro National Park includes mountains from lord of the Rings movie. Continue Journey down west side of Mountain ranges to Raetihi, (from Turangi to Raetihi 2 hours drive) Travel down Wanganui river road to Wanganui. Ride paddle steamer on Wanganui river. Next day travel to Wellington, visit Te papa the museum of New Zealand, this museum is interactive and vibrant, allow at least 6 hours in museum. leave New Zealand from Wellington Airport. If you need any other advice please contact me.
Sincerely from the land down under
